A Midweek Dash to House of Fu – A Spicy Lunch, Cheeky Gyozas & a Lesson in Reading Opening Hours.

Ramen in a rush, merch on the way out, and why maybe don’t go for spice when you're on the clock.

Lunch breaks are rarely glamorous. But sometimes, with the right combo of hunger and recklessness, you find yourself making bold choices—like heading to House of Fu solo for their weekday £10 Ramen & Rice deal, with 40 minutes to spare and a tight deadline waiting back at the desk.

This was that kind of lunch.

📅The “Monday to Friday” deal that’s really just Tuesday to Friday.

Let’s get this out of the way: the £10 ramen/rice bowl deal is advertised as Monday to Friday, but.. important detail.. House of Fu is closed on Mondays. A little quirk in the marketing, so if you're thinking of kicking your week off with noodles, you’ll want to wait till Tuesday. You've been warned.

🌶🥟Speed, spice, and gyozas I didn’t plan on.

Once seated (almost instantly), I was impressed by how efficient everything was. Despite a solo table and time pressure, service didn’t skip a beat.

And while I told myself I was just there for a quick bite, I couldn’t resist a little add-on: Teriyaki Chicken Gyozas, one of the current specials. Golden, juicy, and the kind of snack you don’t share even if you had company (I didn’t).

For my main, I ordered the Spicy Pork Ramen, complete with a perfectly jammy half egg. The broth was rich, the heat slowly built, and while the spice was glorious, it maybe wasn’t ideal when trying to eat at pace. At one point, I questioned whether I’d be returning to work energised or slightly flushed. Worth it either way.

👕🍜You can now wear your Fu feelings on a t-shirt.

On the way out, I clocked something unexpected: House of Fu has its own merch store, including t-shirts that would go nicely with a pint or a pair of chopsticks. For those who want to leave with more than just the scent of ramen in their hair, it’s a fun touch and very on brand.

🥢Final slurp

So, if you’re looking for a quick but satisfying solo lunch, House of Fu’s £10 deal delivers. Just maybe skip the chilli if you’re in a real hurry. Oh, and maybe check what day it is before you head over.

The £10 Ramen & Rice deal runs Tuesday to Friday, 12–4pm. More info here. Gyozas optional, but highly encouraged.
